Because of the progress of the times and the rapid development of science and technology, in recent years, the development of electronic and electrical industry in all aspects has made the application of FPC connectors more and more extensive. However, because FPC connectors are delicate and fragile products, it is more necessary to avoid FPC connector breakage and solutions to some problems during normal use. Now we will explain these problems and solutions.
1、 Abnormal noise occurs during folding of FPC connector
1. The FPC itself is multi-layer and interferes with the inner wall of the hole when the cover is closed, so abnormal noises can always be heard when the cover is turned over. We can let the manufacturer use tape to bind multiple layers or glue them together to look like a layer, but it is better not to stick them together in the winding part, retain the multi-layer structure, and reduce the FPC length.
2. The length of the FPC in the shaft hole exceeds the hole diameter (there is no interference when the cover is closed), but when it is turned to a certain angle, the FPC will have a twisting process, and it will hit the inner wall of the hole, so we can hear the abnormal noise. At this time, we can reduce the length of FPC to ensure that the folding will not scratch the inner wall and it can work normally.
2、 There is scratch between FPC connector and housing
1. In order to avoid scraping between FPC and the shell, it is a common practice abroad to install an iron shaft in the shell, and fix the FPC to the iron shaft to avoid collision and friction between FPC and the shell when opening and closing the flip.
2. A layer of foam can be pasted on the FPC where it contacts the aperture, so that the shell will not directly contact the FPC when it rotates, thus reducing the damage to the FPC and increasing its life. However, this method has the feeling that it can cure the symptoms but not the root causes. It is better to find the reasons from the design itself to truly solve the problem.
3. The mold factory can make some transparent shells. After the whole machine is installed, observe the movement state of FPC in the via, find out the interference position between FPC and the shell, and solve the problem by changing the length of FPC.
4. For many flip+rotary mobile phones, when selecting FPC, first consider winding the FPC on the shaft (method 1 above), or simply use coaxial cable instead of FPC to avoid FPC problems such as distortion and fracture.
