Which flux paste should be used for BGA welding, and the white and yellow ones are better
With the wide application of BGA components in electronic products, we often encounter the problem of repairing and welding BGA. However, repairing BGA is difficult, which has a lot to do with the selected solder paste. So what kind of solder paste should be used? Special BGA welding paste should be selected for welding BGA. BGA welding paste is a mixture of molding agent, organic acid, synthetic acid, acid inhibitor, stabilizer, thickener, thixotropic agent, surfactant, resin and high boiling point solvent. It generally has high impedance and no washing performance, and its effect is better than that of general welding flux and rosin. Some people choose to weld with rosin,

There are also some people who choose to use rosin for welding and can also weld successfully, but the success rate of welding is not so good and the service life is not so long. Therefore, it is recommended to use special BGA solder paste.
Which is better, white or yellow?
BGA welding paste is a frequently used welding material in the PCBA industry. BGA welding paste is somewhat different from ordinary welding paste. There are three colors of BGA welding paste: milky white, light yellow, and golden yellow. At this time, many people will wonder whether white or yellow BGA welding paste is better? In fact, the white BGA soldering paste is better than the yellow one. The color difference between them is mainly due to the different rosin in the composition of the welding paste. The rosin film forming agent contained in the yellow welding paste is ordinary rosin. The softening point is about 75 ℃, and its acid value is about 100. This kind of rosin is dark in color, and the residue after high temperature welding is easy to occur

In fact, the white BGA soldering paste is better than the yellow one. The color difference between them is mainly due to the difference of rosin in the composition of the welding paste. The rosin film forming agent contained in the yellow welding paste is ordinary rosin. The softening point is about 75 ℃, and its acid value is about 100. This kind of rosin is dark in color. The residue after high-temperature welding is easy to yellow, and the rosin residue after welding and cooling is damp and easy to stick to hands. The white soldering paste is made of special rosin resin, with softening point of 135 ℃ and acid value of 200-300. It can withstand the high temperature of 200-400 ℃, and the rosin residue will not turn yellow and be transparent and clean after high temperature welding.
PCB manufacturers, PCB designers and PCBA manufacturers will explain which flux paste should be used for BGA welding, and which is better, white or yellow.
